The simplest type of up-down [[glossary:antiparallel_beta_sheets | antiparallel beta-sheet]] topology whereby two adjacent antiparallel [[glossary:beta_strand | strands]] are joined by a [[glossary:loop | loop]]. This [[glossary:motif | motif]] occurs very frequently in nature and can be observed in many different [[glossary:beta_sheet | beta-sheet]] structures.

The example given below is the epidermal growth factor-like domain of heregulin-alpha (CATH domain ID 1hreA00).
